In Memoriam

Dear Deeper Window, friends
Today you can give new focus and fresh praise to our Lord for peacefully taking Jose’ home Friday, 9/16/22 at 0859 hrs. Sitting at his bedside holding his hand and speaking the name of Jesus over him as he drew his last breath was the highest privilege of our 29 year covenant. Our two oldest children were present as their dad’s flag draped gurney was led through an honor walk at the Leavenworth VA Community Living Center. Our youngest child was in transit at the time. We are all together, planning, laughing, and grieving while being deeply loved and supported by our community. The celebration of this dear man’s beautiful life will be on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. Details below.

Our Mission

The Deeper Window Association is dedicated to help families navigate dementia with proactive courage and authentic hope. The Association will offer services and social engagement programs to those living with dementia and support for their care partners through support groups, education and resources.

The Association was founded by Rear Admiral (Retired) Jose’ H. Belardo, MSW, JD and his wife, Elaine Belardo, BSN after Jose’ was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 50.

Our Programs

The Deeper Window Association’s signature program, is a non medical social engagement program for people in the early to middle stages of dementia. The program will focus on dementia empowerment through peer engagement, music, art, drama, community service, and cognitive stimulation with hot lunches served.
