For those caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease, every day is the longest day, Each year on the summer solstice, the Alzheimer’s Association holds The Longest Day events around the world from sunrise to sunset to fundraise and honor individuals and their caregivers who are facing this disease. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s and more than 11 million family and friends provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias in the United States.
The Longest Day is the day with the most light — the summer solstice. Thousands of participants from across the world come together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s through an activity of their choice. Together, they use their creativity and passion to raise funds and awareness for the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
